Sophia Lancer, a senior at John F. Kennedy High School in Bellmore, has self-published an interactive workbook titled "The Road Between Two Homes: A Workbook for Kids When Their Family Changes," designed to help young people cope with their parents' divorce, Newsday reported.

The 107-page workbook was inspired by Lancer's own experience with her parents' separation when she was six years old. She spent seven months writing the book last year, incorporating feedback from dozens of people who grew up with divorced or separated parents.

The workbook includes practical advice such as a checklist of essential items for kids to pack when moving between homes, and a page for planning the layout of a new bedroom. It aims to reassure children that they are resilient and can navigate the challenges of family changes.

Lancer has sold about 100 copies, and the workbook is available on Amazon. It is also distributed in guidance offices within the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District and approximately 20 other high schools nationwide.
