Blue Line Corridor Coalition celebrates progress with Night Market in Seat Pleasant
The coalition marks its first anniversary with a community event showcasing new businesses and housing developments.
The Blue Line Corridor Coalition, a neighborhood advocacy group in Seat Pleasant, Maryland, is celebrating its first anniversary with a Night Market at the Mini Plaza Shopping Center on Yost Place, WTOP reported.
The event will feature the opening of Gallery 47, a new business displaying art from five artists who engaged over 120 community members about building a thriving community, according to WTOP.
Gallery 47 will offer more than art viewing and sales; it will provide programming and activities for all ages, said Bryan Franklin of the Local Initiative Support Corporation, one of the redevelopment groups involved.
Several new homes have been built near the shopping center, and a larger apartment complex is under construction across Central Avenue, reflecting growing housing options in the corridor.
The coalition, backed by groups including Capital Market, aims to create a denser corridor with amenities such as coffee shops, restaurants, and gathering spaces, with support from state, county, and community levels.
Saturday's event also launches Blocks of Belonging, a program designed to keep the community informed and supported amid ongoing changes, said Britney Drakeford of Capital Market.
