Chamblee Police Chief Michael Dieppa is resigning from his position to become the police chief in Mount Dora, Florida, city officials announced Tuesday, according to FOX 5 Atlanta and Atlanta News First.

Dieppa has led the Chamblee Police Department since October 2023, and during his tenure, the city experienced double-digit annual crime reductions, Atlanta News First reported. FOX 5 Atlanta added that the department also launched a Real-Time Crime Center, created a Neighborhood Resource Unit and Bike Patrol Unit, and appointed its first female assistant police chief under his leadership.

The city of Chamblee, which has a population of over 32,000, has not yet named a successor or interim chief to lead the police department during the transition, according to FOX 5 Atlanta. Additional information on the leadership change will be provided as it becomes available.

City Manager Kristen Gorham thanked Dieppa for his service and contributions to the city, as stated in a municipal news release cited by FOX 5 Atlanta. Dieppa’s resignation is expected to take effect near the end of the year, Atlanta News First noted.
