Christiane Amanpour, CNN’s chief international anchor, announced she will leave the network after a 43-year career, WTOP reported. Starting in early 2027, she will reduce her daily CNN International show, “Amanpour,” to once a week before ending it in May and departing the network in June.

Amanpour also plans to end her PBS program, “Amanpour and Company,” by the end of this year, according to WTOP. She will continue her podcast, “The Ex Files,” which she co-hosts with her ex-husband, former U.S. diplomat Jamie Rubin.

Her departure comes as CNN transitions under new ownership following the $81 billion merger of Warner Bros. Discovery and Skydance-owned Paramount, which now also owns CBS, WTOP noted. Amanpour expressed support for CNN’s legacy of independent journalism.

On a personal note, Amanpour has publicly shared her experience with ovarian cancer, diagnosed in 2021 and later recurring, encouraging others to get regular scans. She said she looks forward to new projects in the future.

Washington area viewers familiar with Amanpour’s work on CNN and PBS will see her programs conclude over the next several months as she steps back from daily broadcasting.
