Governor Abigail Spanberger has issued Executive Directive 5, permitting the temporary use of dyed diesel fuel in on-road vehicles across Virginia, WRIC 8News reported. This measure aims to provide relief amid rising fuel prices affecting farmers, loggers, and families.

According to realradio804.com, the directive instructs the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles to waive penalties for on-road use of dyed diesel and to publish a process for remitting state diesel taxes within five business days. The goal is to help keep essential equipment running and support small businesses and industries critical to the state's economy.

The Governor emphasized the impact of global market disruptions on diesel prices, which have strained small businesses and families. The directive is intended to maintain the movement of food, goods, and materials vital to Virginia residents.

The Virginia Farm Bureau expressed appreciation for the administration's recognition of diesel price impacts on farms, noting that allowing dyed diesel use on roads will provide needed financial relief for farmers hauling crops and equipment.
