According to Live 5 WCSC, a strong front moving offshore is bringing cool, dry air to the Charleston area this weekend. After nearly a week of above-average temperatures, residents can expect a notable cooldown starting Saturday.

High temperatures on Saturday will reach the low to mid 70s across the area, with Sunday afternoon highs ranging from the upper 60s to lower 70s. Morning lows on Sunday will dip into the 40s in many inland communities, marking the first time in over a week for such cool temperatures.

Friday night saw all showers and thunderstorms move offshore, resulting in dry conditions overnight. However, areas of fog, including locally dense fog, are expected early Saturday morning, especially east of I-95 where heavy rainfall occurred on Friday. Drivers are advised to use low beams and increase following distances if traveling overnight.

The cooler weather pattern is expected to continue into next week, with highs in the low to mid 70s. A reinforcing shot of cooler air may arrive late next week, potentially keeping temperatures in the low 60s by Friday and possibly dipping into the 30s the following weekend.

The National Hurricane Center is monitoring a low-pressure area southeast of Bermuda with a low chance of subtropical development, but this is not expected to affect the Charleston area at this time.
