Labor leader and civil rights icon Dolores Huerta will lie in honor at the California State Capitol in Sacramento on Monday, November 14, from noon until 6 p.m., FOX40 reported.
Huerta, who co-founded what became the United Farm Workers union in the 1960s, died last month at age 96. She is remembered for her lifelong dedication to farmworkers' rights and fair labor conditions.
California legislative leaders, including Senate President pro Tempore Monique Limón and Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas, announced the memorial event and praised Huerta's impact on labor rights and California families.
Rivas recalled Huerta's role in negotiating his grandfather’s first union contract and highlighted her conviction that farmworkers deserved dignity and fair pay. Limón described Huerta as an inspiration to workers and a central figure in California’s labor movement.
Additional details about the memorial event are expected to be released in the coming days.
