Early voting begins with strong turnout in Lawrence County, Arkansas
Early voting started Monday in Lawrence County with turnout nearly double usual levels in the first three hours.
Early voting has commenced in Lawrence County, Arkansas, with officials reporting a strong start, according to KAIT. Voting opened at 8 a.m. Monday at the Lawrence County Courthouse, where the county clerk unofficially counted about 70 voters within the first three hours, nearly double the typical 30 to 40 voters at that time on day one.
County Clerk Brandi Parker noted that early voting turnout is promising, as it often does not reach 80 voters in a full day. She emphasized that early voting is encouraged because unforeseen circumstances can prevent people from voting on Election Day.
Voters in Lawrence County will decide on statewide races and local issues, including a proposed millage increase for roads and a sales tax increase in the city of Black Rock. Sample ballots are available at the clerkâs office and outside the voting site.
Early voting hours in Lawrence County are from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, continuing with the same schedule the following week.
