The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is evaluating a request from the City of Kingman to release approximately 832.6 acres of airport property at Kingman Airport in Arizona. According to the Federal Register, this land was originally obtained under the Surplus Property Act of 1944 and is federally obligated.

Similarly, the FAA is also considering a request from Fairbanks International Airport in Alaska to release about 40 acres of federally obligated property. This land was acquired through federal grants under the Airport Improvement Program.

If approved, both airports would be permitted to dispose of the released land for purposes unrelated to aviation. The FAA's consideration of these requests was noted in recent Federal Register notices dated October 29, 2026.
