Flash flood warning in effect for Raleigh area until 1:30 PM
NWS warns of ongoing flash flooding in Raleigh, Durham, and Wake counties with heavy rain expected to continue.
The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a flash flood warning for parts of central North Carolina, including northeastern Chatham County, southern Durham County, and central Wake County. The warning is in effect until 1:30 PM EST on November 6.
Doppler radar detected thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall, with 1 to 2 inches already fallen and an additional 1 to 2 inches possible. Flash flooding is either ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned areas.
The NWS cautions that flash flooding may impact small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, underpasses, and other low-lying or poor drainage locations. Specific areas at risk include Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Wake Forest, Garner, and nearby communities and parks.
Residents are advised to remain alert, avoid driving through flooded roadways, and take precautions to stay safe during the heavy rain and potential flash flooding.
