North Carolina State University police executed six search warrants last month related to an ongoing investigation into the Sigma Nu fraternity on campus, WRAL reported. The warrants included searches of the fraternity house, cellphones, and university connectivity logs belonging to fraternity members.

The investigation began after a fire at the fraternity house on September 9, followed by multiple anonymous reports submitted through NC State's student reporting portal detailing severe hazing practices, according to CBS17. These reports described physical abuse such as slapping, kicking, and burning of pledges, as well as forced consumption of vomit, cigarettes, expired milk, and large amounts of alcohol.

ABC11 obtained search warrants that also revealed video evidence showing pledges being slapped, kicked, and forced to drink spoiled milk and vomit. The videos reportedly show a pledge being kicked in the torso and another being instructed to vomit into others' mouths. The investigation further uncovered allegations of drug use, including cocaine and crack cocaine, and the hiring of sex workers by fraternity members during hazing events.

The anonymous reports included claims that pledges were threatened with severe retaliation, including death threats, if they left the fraternity or disclosed the hazing activities. Several pledges required medical treatment, with six hospitalizations reported. The reports also noted that pledges were pressured to lie to medical professionals about their injuries to avoid further trouble.

NC State University and Sigma Nu National have placed the fraternity on interim suspension while the university police continue their criminal investigation into these allegations.
