Man and dog found dead in Lauderhill home, investigation ongoing
Authorities investigate after a man and dog were found dead inside a Lauderhill residence following a welfare check.
An investigation is underway in Lauderhill after a man and dog were found dead inside a home during a welfare check, CBS News Miami reported.
The incident occurred in the Forest Hills neighborhood, just west of Route 441, according to residents and local reports.
Neighbors said they heard a smoke detector and smelled smoke two days before the bodies were discovered. The owners of the unit said the woman renting the unit called them after she could not reach the man living there and asked them to check on him.
The owners arrived Thursday night but decided to return at daylight. The woman then called police to perform a welfare check, which led to the discovery of the bodies.
The homeowner indicated that a fire may have started in the kitchen and spread to the living area. Lauderhill police have not released further details yet, and CBS News Miami is awaiting updates.
