The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Miami-Dade County and surrounding areas including Palm Beach and Broward counties. The watch is in effect from 10 a.m. Sunday until 3 p.m. Monday, according to the NWS Miami office.

An upper-level low pressure system moving over Florida will bring increased moisture and support for showers and storms. This will cause bands of heavy rain to move across the region, with isolated to scattered locations experiencing repeated rainfall.

The NWS warns that these heavy rain bands may cause urban and street flooding. Possible impacts include street flooding, road closures, and limited structural impacts in flood-prone areas. Rainfall amounts could reach 3 to 5 inches in some spots, with isolated areas possibly receiving 5 to 7 inches over a few hours.

Residents are advised to stay alert for flash flooding, especially near the coast during high tide, as impacts could be greater if heavy rain coincides with tidal peaks. The NWS recommends caution when driving and avoiding flooded roads.

For further updates and safety information, the National Weather Service encourages monitoring their website and local alerts.
