Man arrested after stolen SUV pursuit in Miami Shores and Miami Beach

Miami Shores Police Department identified and arrested a man who led officers on a high-speed pursuit after stealing an SUV from Tropical Chevrolet dealership in Miami Shores, WSVN reported.

The man met with a car salesman at the dealership, claimed to be looking for a new vehicle, then drove off with the SUV, prompting police to initiate a chase.

During the pursuit, the driver traveled to Miami Beach and increased his speed despite police following closely behind, according to police scanner communications cited by WSVN.

The chase ended on 82nd Street, east of Biscayne Boulevard, where officers stopped and arrested the man. He faces charges including grand theft and resisting an officer without violence.

A tow truck later removed the stolen SUV from the dealership parking lot, concluding the incident.
