Former FCI Dublin officer pleads guilty to sexual abuse of inmates
David Perez admitted to sexually abusing two inmates and making false statements to investigators, prosecutors said.
A former officer at the now-closed Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) in Dublin has pleaded guilty to sexually abusing two inmates, according to prosecutors reported by CBS News Bay Area.
David Perez, who worked for the Federal Bureau of Prisons starting in 1994 and served as a Discipline Hearing Officer at FCI Dublin from 2014 to 2019, admitted to abusing inmates during his tenure, prosecutors said.
Perez was responsible for adjudicating disciplinary actions against inmates and issuing punishments, including placing them in the Special Housing Unit, where he later abused them on multiple occasions, prosecutors stated.
In 2024, Perez gave false statements to federal investigators, claiming he only touched inmates while escorting them to hearings, but prosecutors said this was untrue.
Perez faces up to 15 years in prison and fines for sexual abuse and abusive sexual contact charges, and he was released on bond pending sentencing, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of California.
