Former Orioles pitcher Nick Raquet signs two-year minor league deal with Tigers
Nick Raquet, released by Orioles in September, will rehab from Tommy John surgery under new contract.
Nick Raquet, a left-handed pitcher formerly with the Baltimore Orioles, has signed a two-year minor league contract with the Detroit Tigers, MLB Trade Rumors reported.
Raquet became a free agent after the Orioles released him in early September. According to 7 News’ Ari Alexander, the contract length reflects Raquet's recent Tommy John surgery, which will sideline him for the entire 2027 season as he rehabs.
The two-year deal offers Raquet security while recovering, with the Tigers planning to consider him for their roster when he is healthy in 2028.
Raquet was originally a third-round draft pick by the Washington Nationals in 2017. He stepped away from baseball in 2020 when the minor league season was canceled due to the pandemic, returning to college at William & Mary to complete a business degree and working as an enterprise risk consultant before resuming his baseball career.
