GE Vernova to acquire high-voltage maker Trench Group for $9B
GE Vernova aims to boost its electrification segment amid slowing gas turbine orders with Trench Group purchase.
GE Vernova announced plans to acquire Trench Group in a $9 billion deal expected to close in late 2027, Utility Dive reported.
The acquisition is intended to help GE Vernova capitalize on rising electricity demand and strengthen its Electrification segment, which supplies medium- and high-voltage equipment to utilities and other power consumers.
Trench Group serves over 800 utility and hyperscaler customers and provides high-voltage direct-current equipment to GE Vernova, according to the report.
The deal includes about $5 billion in backlog and framework agreements extending into the next decade, which will enhance integrated solutions and improve supply chain reliability for both companies.
GE Vernova CEO Scott Strazik noted that while gas turbine orders have slowed, the company expects solid growth in turbine orders and reservations in 2027, with a companywide order backlog projected to exceed $200 billion by next quarter.
