Georgia governor’s race tied, Ossoff leads Collins ahead of Election Day
Polls show a dead heat in Georgia governor’s race and Ossoff ahead in Senate race as voting nears.
With polls opening Tuesday at 7 a.m., the race for Georgia governor remains extremely close, according to a recent InsiderAdvantage poll reported by Atlanta News First. The survey of 2,500 likely voters found Republican Rick Jackson and Democrat Keisha Lance Bottoms tied at 49% each, within the poll’s margin of error.
Meanwhile, incumbent Democratic U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff holds a seven-point lead over Republican challenger U.S. Rep. Mike Collins, with 53% support versus 46%, suggesting Ossoff may avoid a runoff by surpassing the 50% threshold required under Georgia law.
Candidates made final campaign efforts Monday across the state, including stops in metro Atlanta. FOX 5 Atlanta noted that Ossoff campaigned in DeKalb County alongside other Democrats, while Collins met supporters in Atlanta. Republican Rick Jackson and Gov. Brian Kemp toured multiple cities together, and Bottoms conducted several stops as part of her final campaign push.
Polls will close at 7 p.m. Tuesday, with voters in line at that time still permitted to cast ballots. Election outcomes for statewide constitutional offices could be decided by a few hundred votes, highlighting the importance of voter participation, a strategic adviser told FOX 5 Atlanta.
