High tides may cause coastal flooding and road closures in San Diego
A coastal flood alert is in effect until Thursday due to unusually high tides impacting low-lying areas in San Diego County.
A coastal flood alert has been issued for the entire San Diego County coast, effective from Sunday morning through Thursday afternoon, according to the Times of San Diego.
The National Weather Service (NWS) warned that unusually high tides could cause significant flooding in low-lying areas, including homes, businesses, and critical infrastructure. Numerous road closures are possible during this period.
The NWS also noted that some coastal erosion is expected, and residents along the coast should remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to protect lives and property.
So far, no damage has been reported in the county. The high tides are expected to occur each morning and could exceed astronomical predictions by 1 to 1.7 feet, increasing flood risks.
Local residents are encouraged to stay informed through updates such as the Tiempos de San Diego WhatsApp group for the latest news and safety information.
