iPhone Duo surpasses 100,000 optimized apps with ongoing developer support
Apple reports over 100,000 apps optimized for the iPhone Duo, with thousands more added daily amid some app issues.
Apple announced that the App Store now features more than 100,000 apps optimized for its foldable iPhone Duo, as reported by TechCrunch and The Verge.
The company highlighted that thousands of additional Duo-ready apps are being added daily, including notable titles like Microsoft Word, Outlook, Zoom, NBA and NHL sports apps, Etsy, LTK, Goodnotes, Extra, and Halide Mark III.
Apple noted that some apps not yet optimized display a black bar on the side of the screen, which reduces usable space and can hide important functions, a point also discussed by The Verge.
To support developers, Apple held over 50 in-person workshops in 19 cities worldwide, where more than 2,000 developers worked directly with the Duo device and Apple engineers to optimize their apps.
Despite the Duo's high starting price of $1,999, demand has exceeded expectations, leading to quick sellouts and shipping delays extending into next year, according to TechCrunch.
Apple acknowledged that predicting when supply constraints will ease remains difficult but expressed gratitude for the rapid developer adoption and ongoing app updates.
Some apps, including Instagram, have faced challenges adapting to the Duo's foldable form factor, with Apple and developers continuing to address these issues as usage grows.
