Iran says war resumption with US would not alter its policies
Iran's Foreign Minister states that renewed conflict with US and Israel won't change Tehran's stance amid ongoing tensions.
Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Sunday that a potential resumption of war with Israel and the United States would not change Iran's positions, according to ARY News and ABC News.
This statement comes amid renewed threats from US President Donald Trump about possible bombing campaigns against Iran, referencing a prior operation called Epic Fury that began in February, ABC News reported.
Araghchi emphasized that whether there is war or not, Iran's policies remain consistent, noting that previous US and Israeli attacks have not altered Tehran's stance.
The April 8 ceasefire ended the most intense fighting between Iran and the US, though sporadic exchanges continue near the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic global energy route that Iran claims control over, ARY News explained.
Iran has targeted vessels crossing the strait without authorization, actions opposed by Washington and regional countries, which has led to a US naval counter-blockade on Iranian ports.
In June, Iran and the US agreed to a memorandum of understanding aiming for a permanent settlement, but the deal later unraveled amid mutual accusations of violations, with Iran calling for its restoration.
Araghchi also noted that the current conflict has changed realities, stating that shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz will no longer be the same, according to ARY News.
