Los Angeles activates automated speed cameras citywide
Los Angeles has started using automated speed cameras in school zones and high-crash streets to monitor speeding drivers.
Los Angeles began operating its first automated speed cameras on Monday, according to KTLA 5. The cameras are installed across the city, focusing on school zones and streets with a history of serious crashes to enhance traffic safety.
For the initial 60 days after activation, drivers caught speeding by these cameras will receive warnings instead of fines, KTLA 5 reported. This grace period aims to inform motorists about the new enforcement method before penalties are issued.
CBS News Los Angeles also reported on the activation of the speed cameras, highlighting what drivers can expect as the city implements this new technology to reduce speeding and improve safety near vulnerable areas.
