As Maryland voters approach the decision on Question 3, a political action committee (PAC) named Truth for Maryland is urging support for Governor Wes Moore while opposing the redistricting measure he endorses, FOX45 Baltimore reported.

Truth for Maryland disclosed a $325,000 contribution from a little-known nonprofit called the Progressive Prosperity Caucus, which is its sole contributor according to the PAC’s latest campaign finance filing. However, the nonprofit’s own funders and leadership remain undisclosed, and it is registered with an address in Omaha, Nebraska.

The PAC has spent nearly $294,200 on videos, online ads, and mailers that feature Governor Moore’s image and campaign-style branding to promote him but oppose Question 3. The group’s chair stated their goal is to reelect Moore and oppose former President Donald Trump, describing gerrymandering as detrimental to democracy.

The Progressive Prosperity Caucus has also been active in other states, including Wisconsin, where it contributed $750,000 to a group supporting a Democratic gubernatorial candidate. This has led to accusations from Nebraska’s Democratic Party chair that the caucus might be a Republican front group, although this has not been confirmed.

Governor Moore’s campaign sent a cease-and-desist letter to Truth for Maryland, accusing the PAC of unauthorized use of the governor’s image and branding in their ads.
