Melbourne Orlando Airport resumes flights but limits terminal services

Melbourne Orlando International Airport has resumed flights following extreme flooding in Brevard County that disrupted operations the previous day, FOX 35 Orlando reported.

Despite the resumption of flights, airport officials noted that terminal services remain limited because of multiple water main breaks affecting the city's water system, according to FOX 35 Orlando.

All terminal restrooms are closed due to inadequate water pressure, and passengers are advised to use restrooms before arriving at the airport. Hand sanitizer is available throughout the terminal as a precaution, FOX 35 Orlando stated.

Additionally, all restaurants and food concessions at the airport are closed since they cannot prepare food. However, a limited selection of prepackaged snacks and bottled drinks is available for purchase, FOX 35 Orlando added.

Heavy rainfall caused flash flooding in parts of Brevard County, including Melbourne, leading to several road closures and advisories for residents to avoid unnecessary travel, according to FOX 35 Orlando.

Airport officials continue working with city crews to locate and repair the water main breaks impacting both residential and commercial customers served by Melbourne's water system, FOX 35 Orlando reported.
