Michigan loses 13-6 in OT to No. 6 Indiana in Tommy Carr's first start
Freshman QB Tommy Carr's first start saw turnovers and a strong defense, but Michigan fell in overtime to Indiana.
Michigan football faced No. 6 Indiana on October 24, with 19-year-old true freshman Tommy Carr making his first collegiate start at quarterback, according to Yahoo Sports.
Carr, replacing the benched Bryce Underwood, committed two turnovers in the first half but helped rally Michigan to force overtime after a 58-yard drive late in regulation. Michigan trailed 6-3 before tying the game with a 26-yard field goal by Trey Butkowski.
In overtime, Indiana's quarterback Josh Hoover, playing through an arm injury, scored the game's first touchdown on a designed 4-yard run, which Michigan could not answer. Carr's fourth-down pass attempt was incomplete, sealing the 13-6 Indiana victory at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor.
Carr completed 20 of 32 passes for 167 yards with one interception and a lost fumble. Michigan's defense played well, with Chris Bracy making 13 tackles and Zeke Berry intercepting Hoover in the third quarter, returning the ball to Indiana's 13-yard line. However, Michigan failed to capitalize and settled for a field goal.
Michigan's next game is against Rutgers on Halloween, while Indiana will host Minnesota next.
