Authorities arrested 35 suspects across San Diego County and Southern California in a major gang crackdown.
More than 40 alleged gang members and associates in San Diego County were formally charged following a two-year investigation into a criminal organization based in Poway, according to the Times of San Diego.
Federal authorities conducted 35 arrests between Wednesday and Thursday as part of a large operation spanning Southern California, including communities in San Diego and Riverside counties and the Central Valley.
Investigators executed 10 search warrants on homes and vehicles in multiple San Diego County cities, including San Diego, Poway, Lemon Grove, National City, Chula Vista, Imperial Beach, El Cajon, Oceanside, Escondido, and Vista.
Operations also took place in Temecula, Murrieta, Riverside, and Tulare, reflecting the wide geographic reach of the investigation.
The federal prosecutor's office for the Southern District of California reported that the criminal group had alleged ties to the Mexican Mafia.
