Multi-vehicle crash blocks southbound I-885 near downtown Durham

A crash involving at least three vehicles has closed all southbound lanes of I-885 near Exit 9 in Durham.

WRAL reported a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 885 in Durham County that closed all southbound lanes near Exit 9, close to downtown Durham and Angier Avenue.

The crash occurred before 8 a.m. Tuesday and involved at least three vehicles, including a white van and a red car, according to WRAL.

Video from WRAL News showed the white van's front smashed into the back of another vehicle, and the red car was found on its side, indicating a pileup-style collision.

Authorities have not released information about injuries or the cause of the crash, and no reopening time for the lanes has been announced yet.
