Nearly $1 million in rare sports and Pokémon cards stolen from FedEx truck in Santa Ana
Two pallets of graded trading cards valued at $963,000 were stolen from a FedEx truck parked near PSA in Santa Ana.
The Santa Ana Police Department reported that two pallets containing about 100 packages of sports and Pokémon cards each, valued at approximately $963,000, were stolen from a FedEx truck last week. An additional 50 packages from a third pallet were also taken, with their value still being assessed, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The cards had been sent from across the country to Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA) in Santa Ana for grading, a process that authenticates and assigns condition grades to trading cards, which establishes their value. The stolen cards had already been graded and were awaiting return to their owners.
Police said the FedEx driver left the truck parked near PSA’s shipping and receiving area at 1610 E. St. Andrew Place for about an hour to 90 minutes. During that time, the truck was broken into and the packages were stolen. No arrests have been made and the stolen cards have not been recovered, according to a Santa Ana police spokesperson.
PSA stated it has deactivated the certificates linked to the stolen items and alerted marketplace partners to prevent the stolen cards from being sold. The company is also reimbursing card owners for at least part of their losses.
The investigation remains open as authorities continue to seek the stolen goods and any suspects involved.
