North Carolina voters prepare for Nov. 3 midterm election with early voting ending Oct. 31
Early voting in North Carolina ends Oct. 31; Election Day is Nov. 3 with same-day registration available during early voting.
Election Day for the 2026 North Carolina general midterm election is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 3, with early voting already underway and ending at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31, WBTV reported. Voters in Charlotte and across the state can cast their ballots at any early voting site within their county during this period.
Same-day voter registration is available only during the early in-person voting period, not on Election Day itself. On Election Day, voters must go to their assigned polling place based on their registered home address, according to WBTV.
Voters will be asked to show photo identification when checking in, but all voters can still vote without photo ID by filling out an ID Exception Form. Acceptable photo IDs include a North Carolina driver's license, state ID, U.S. passport, college or university ID, and military ID.
To help voters prepare, North Carolina provides a Voter Search tool on the state’s website where registered voters can find their polling place and view a sample of their ballot. This resource is intended to help voters familiarize themselves with the candidates and races before Election Day.
