Titusville names Tyler 'TJ' Wright as new police chief
Tyler 'TJ' Wright, a 19-year veteran of Titusville Police, will officially become chief on Nov. 2, 2026.
The City of Titusville announced that Tyler 'TJ' Wright has been appointed as the new Chief of Police, according to FOX 35 Orlando.
Wright has been with the Titusville Police Department for 19 years, advancing from police officer to deputy chief and then acting chief after the previous chief was fired in June following a rollover crash, FOX 35 Orlando reported.
He is expected to formally assume the role of police chief on November 2, 2026, where he will oversee public safety operations, community engagement, and department personnel, the city said.
Wright's educational background includes graduating from the Brevard Community College Law Enforcement Academy in 2007, earning a bachelor's degree in criminal justice administration in 2011, graduating from the FBI National Academy in 2024, and obtaining a master's degree in public safety from the University of Virginia in 2025, FOX 35 Orlando noted.
City Manager Tom Abbate emphasized the importance of public safety and expressed confidence in Wright's ability to build on the department's strengths and maintain Titusville as a safe community, FOX 35 Orlando reported.
