Richmond police investigate sexual assaults in Chimborazo and The Fan neighborhoods

Richmond Police Department detectives are investigating two reported sexual assaults involving elderly women in the Chimborazo and The Fan neighborhoods, WTVR reported.

In both incidents, an unknown male allegedly entered homes through unlocked doors and sexually assaulted the victims, according to NBC12.

Detectives have not yet determined whether the cases are connected or involve the same suspect. Due to differences in suspect descriptions and the locations being separate, the investigations are being treated as separate cases, WTVR and NBC12 said.

Authorities are urging residents to keep doors locked at all times and to call 911 if they observe any suspicious activity. Richmond Police also provided contact numbers for those with information: Major Crimes Detective D. Jones at (804) 646-5316 and Crime Stoppers at (804) 780-1000.

This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available, WTVR noted.
