Orlando man jailed for threats against Jewish community in Glades County
An Orlando man faces charges after posting threatening messages and firearm photos targeting a Jewish community.
An Orlando man was arrested after state investigators said he posted threatening messages against a Jewish community in Glades County, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).
The investigation began on October 19 when FDLE agents in Fort Myers received information about the threats, which included photos of the community's location and a firearm, WKMG News 6 ClickOrlando and FOX 35 Orlando reported.
The man, identified as 31-year-old Jerry Sneed of Orlando, was taken into custody on October 28 with the assistance of the Orange County Sheriff's Office. At the time of his arrest, Sneed was in possession of the firearm shown in the social media posts, FDLE officials said.
Sneed faces charges including unlawful use of a two-way communication device and written or electronic threats to kill, cause bodily injury, or conduct a mass shooting or act of terrorism. The state attorney's office in Glades County is prosecuting the case, though it is unclear when Sneed will be extradited for arraignment.
FDLE urges the public to report any suspicious activity by calling (855) FLA-SAFE, dialing 911, or visiting their website.
