North Charleston Police highlight mental health awareness during Faith in Blue event

The North Charleston Police Department focused on mental health awareness during its annual Faith in Blue initiative, which brings together law enforcement, community members, and clergy, according to Live 5 WCSC.

Speakers at the event stressed the importance of the community knowing police are available to serve, protect, and assist those facing mental health challenges.

Tireka Wright noted the event aimed to raise awareness about suicide prevention and recognizing emotional stress signs, mentioning that some children and adults in the community have died by suicide.

Attendees shared personal experiences with loved ones struggling with depression or lost to suicide, reinforcing the message that help is available and no one facing mental health issues is alone.
