A former office manager at the Charleston Yacht Club was sentenced to five years after pleading guilty to Breach of Trust involving less than $10,000, according to WCIV.

Debbie Collins worked at the Yacht Club from November 2018 to February 2020 and had access to the club's credit cards for business use. She was responsible for providing credit card statements and receipts to the bookkeeper for payment.

The bookkeeper discovered discrepancies when comparing the statements Collins provided to the actual credit card statements from the credit card company. Collins had altered payee descriptions and created false invoices to conceal personal purchases made on the club’s credit cards.

Collins’ sentence includes 18 months in prison, suspended, followed by three years of probation. She is also required to pay restitution, according to a release from Solicitor Scarlett A. Wilson.
