The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) published a notice in the Federal Register on October 23, 2026, proposing a new information collection related to applications for licensing or registration to issue payment stablecoins under the GENIUS Act, according to the Federal Register.

This proposal is part of the OCC's ongoing effort to reduce paperwork and respondent burden in compliance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, the Federal Register reported.

The GENIUS Act requires entities seeking to issue payment stablecoins in the United States to submit applications for licensing or registration, prompting the OCC's information collection proposal, the Federal Register stated.

The public is invited to comment on this proposed information collection, as part of the federal regulatory process overseen by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), according to the Federal Register.

Other federal agencies, including the Department of Labor, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and the Federal Railroad Administration, are also conducting similar information collection requests and comment solicitations under the Paperwork Reduction Act, as noted in recent Federal Register notices.
