Poll shows Macron as least popular French president amid riots
A recent poll reveals Emmanuel Macron's approval rating has dropped to 13%, marking him as the least popular modern French president.
A poll conducted by the Elabe Institute found that only 13% of the French public approve of President Emmanuel Macron's performance, marking the lowest approval rating in modern French history, Breitbart reported.
The survey also revealed that 82% of respondents expressed distrust towards Macron, with 60% stating they do not trust him at all, according to Le Journal du Dimanche.
Macron's approval rating has fallen below that of his predecessor François Hollande, who had a 14% approval rating in November 2016, as noted by Elabe.
This decline in popularity coincides with weeks of riots involving radical far-left groups and disaffected youths, which have caused billions in damages and injuries to police and emergency personnel.
Despite being seen as a steady leader, Macron has been criticized for his perceived ineffectiveness during the unrest and has attributed some blame to external factors such as U.S. policies and energy costs.
The president has not addressed how his government's mass migration policies may have contributed to societal divisions fueling the protests.
