Polls open in Charlotte area for 2026 midterm election
Voters in Charlotte and across North Carolina can cast ballots Tuesday from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. with photo ID accepted.
Polls are open Tuesday, November 3, for the 2026 general midterm election in North Carolina, including Charlotte and surrounding areas, WBTV reported. Voting hours run from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and anyone in line by 7:30 p.m. will be allowed to vote.
Voters must go to their assigned polling place based on their registered home address, according to WBTV. Photo identification is requested but not required; voters without photo ID can fill out an ID Exception Form to vote.
North Carolina voters can view a sample ballot ahead of time using the state's voter search tool, which helps them prepare for the races on the ballot, WBTV noted. Key contests include an open U.S. Senate seat and several state-level offices.
Meanwhile, polls in neighboring South Carolina are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., requiring photo ID to vote, as reported by WBTV and WFAE. Voters in line by 7 p.m. there may still cast ballots.
The North Carolina State Board of Elections website offers additional information for voters to plan their visit to the polls, WFAE reported.
