Charlotte Water lifts mandatory water restrictions as drought eases
Charlotte Water has moved from mandatory to voluntary water-use restrictions following improved drought conditions in the region.
Charlotte Water has lifted its mandatory water-use restrictions due to improving drought conditions across the Catawba-Wateree River Basin, WFAE reported.
The utility shifted to voluntary conservation measures starting Monday, citing better lake levels and other drought indicators in the region.
Customers are still encouraged to conserve water by limiting nonessential use, with recommendations to water lawns no more than twice weekly and only during overnight hours.
Officials stressed that while the water supply is recovering, ongoing conservation remains important as they continue to monitor water levels in the area.
