Poway High teacher on leave amid misconduct investigation
A Poway High School teacher was placed on leave while authorities investigate alleged inappropriate behavior involving students.
The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office is investigating allegations of misconduct by a teacher at Poway High School, FOX 5 San Diego reported. The alleged inappropriate behavior reportedly occurred during the current school year.
Following the allegations, the school placed the teacher on administrative leave, according to a letter from Poway High School Principal Jonathan Penuliar. The letter emphasized the school’s commitment to a safe learning environment and noted that information is limited due to the ongoing investigation and personnel matters.
The principal also thanked students who reported the incident and encouraged others to speak up if they witness concerning behavior. The school district promptly reported the allegations to law enforcement upon learning of them.
The Sheriff’s Office is working closely with the Poway Unified School District to investigate the claims. Deputies urge anyone with information to contact the Sheriff’s Family Protection Detail or provide anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers.
This investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not released further details at this time.
