Punches thrown during Trump rally in South Carolina near Charlotte area
A campaign rally in Clemson, SC, saw physical altercations as President Trump spoke ahead of midterms.
A campaign rally held at Clemson University’s T. Ed Garrison Arena in South Carolina on October 21 saw several people ejected and punches thrown, WBTV reported. The event featured President Donald Trump as he campaigned to support congressional candidates ahead of the November midterm elections.
According to WHNS, the president was interrupted by hecklers multiple times within the first 10 minutes, and about 20 minutes into the rally, three more attendees were removed. At some point during the event, physical altercations occurred, with punches being thrown.
President Trump addressed the crowd about the incident, noting that a man who threw a punch was quickly hit in response. Trump warned that such actions are dangerous, describing the sequence of events as the man starting a disturbance and then being struck.
The rally was part of a broader campaign effort by Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance, who have been traveling across the Carolinas to rally support for key Senate races that could influence the balance of power in the U.S. Senate. North Carolina and South Carolina both have competitive contests ahead of the midterms, making these events significant for local and statewide voters.
