Man charged after secretly recording sexual encounter at UNC Charlotte dorm
A former UNC Charlotte student faces felony charges for secretly recording and sharing a sex tape with a fraternity Snapchat group.
A former UNC Charlotte student, Alexander Evanoff, has been charged with two counts of felony secret peeping and one count of disclosing private images after allegedly recording a sexual encounter without consent and sharing it with members of a fraternity, WCCB Charlotte reported.
The incident reportedly occurred in September inside a dorm room at UNC Charlotte, where Evanoff recorded the video without the victim's knowledge and shared it with at least 32 members of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity via Snapchat, according to court papers and WBTV.
Evanoff is not currently enrolled at UNC Charlotte and is not a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, which rescinded his bid for initiation after learning of the allegations, according to statements from the university and the fraternity's legal representatives.
The victim confronted Evanoff about the video, and he reportedly admitted to recording and distributing it. Two witnesses reportedly viewed the video and confirmed its content included the victim, who was identifiable in the recording and associated photos.
Evanoff was arrested and released shortly after. He is scheduled to appear in court on November 5. University officials condemned the alleged conduct, stating it is not tolerated within their campus community.
Both the fraternity and Evanoff's attorney have yet to respond to requests for comment from WCCB Charlotte.
