Rays tie ALCS at 2-2 with 7-3 win over Guardians at Tropicana Field
Tampa Bay Rays even American League Championship Series with a 7-3 victory over Cleveland Guardians at home.
The Tampa Bay Rays defeated the Cleveland Guardians 7-3 on Saturday night at Tropicana Field, tying the American League Championship Series at 2-2, WUSF reported.
Jonathan Aranda's single in the seventh inning led to two runs after the ball got past right fielder Chase DeLauter, according to WFLA 8. This helped the Rays break open the game in the seventh inning.
Nick Martinez pitched 5⅓ innings, allowing one run and two hits, earning his first postseason win, WUSF stated. The Rays' offense was led by Yandy Díaz, Aranda, Chandler Simpson, and Junior Caminero, who combined for six hits and six RBIs after struggling in the first three games.
The Rays will play Game 5 on Sunday in Cleveland before the series returns to Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg for Game 6 on Monday, with no off day for travel after a rain postponement earlier in the series, WUSF noted.
Rays manager Kevin Cash expressed confidence in playing at home, highlighting the importance of the upcoming games in front of their fans, WUSF reported.
