Restored 200-year-old trullo in Puglia offers family-friendly Airbnb stay
A four-bedroom historic trullo in rural Puglia features an infinity pool and traditional decor for a unique vacation rental.
Conde Nast Traveler reported on a restored 200-year-old trullo located 15 minutes outside Martina Franca in Puglia, Italy, available as an Airbnb rental. The property includes a main trullo with two bedrooms and one bathroom, plus two outbuildings with additional bedrooms, a bathroom, and a kitchen, accommodating a whole family.
The trullo's decor is characterized by whitewashed walls and blue accents, reminiscent of Santorini style, with local textiles and pottery enhancing its traditional charm. While modernized, the building retains original stone walls and vaulted ceilings, preserving its historic atmosphere.
Guests noted some quirks such as curtained bedrooms in the main trullo and air conditioning only in the outbuildings. Wi-Fi and cell service were limited, emphasizing the property's rural setting surrounded by olive trees.
A highlight of the rental is the outdoor space, especially the saltwater infinity pool with a whirlpool that overlooks olive groves. An outdoor shower and local rosé with snacks provided by the host contributed to the relaxing experience.
The host's coordination with a neighbor to greet guests after arrival adds a personal touch to the stay. The location also offers opportunities for day trips to nearby ceramic destinations like Grottaglie, enriching the cultural experience.
