San Diego’s Mike Reilly releases new book on life lessons from IRONMAN races
Mike Reilly, known as the 'Voice of IRONMAN,' shares insights from his announcing career and personal story in his new book.
Mike Reilly, a San Diego-based former middle school teacher and famed IRONMAN race announcer, has published a new book titled Finding Your Finish Line: Lessons on Discovering Hope, Heart, and Yourself in Life’s Toughest Miles, slowtwitch.com reported.
Reilly is widely recognized for coining the phrase 'YOU are an IRONMAN' and has announced over 200 IRONMAN races, including 33 world championship events in Kona, Hawaii. He is a member of both the IRONMAN and Running USA halls of fame.
The new book differs from his first by focusing on lessons learned from the people he encountered during his announcing career, as well as his own personal experiences. Each chapter includes an 'aid stations' section with practical advice such as 'listen to that persistent voice inside you' and 'don’t hold yourself back.'
Reilly shared that the book reveals parts of his personal story, including reasons for stepping away from announcing, which he had not previously disclosed, even to his wife.
The book aims to inspire readers by connecting stories from IRONMAN races to broader life lessons about hope, heart, and perseverance.
