Seattle broker uses HousingWire Intelligence to anticipate real estate shifts
Broker Angie Mykel leverages leading market indicators to adapt quickly to changes and avoid past struggles.
Seattle broker Angie Mykel, CEO of Keller Williams Greater Seattle, shared how HousingWire Intelligence has transformed her approach to real estate market analysis, WRAL reported.
Mykel noted that when the Federal Reserve began raising interest rates in summer 2022, many brokers struggled to adjust expenses quickly enough to keep pace with the rapidly changing market. She wanted to avoid such challenges in the future by seeking more forward-looking data.
Traditionally, real estate professionals have relied on lagging data from MLS systems, which reflect past performance. Mykel described this as driving while looking in the rearview mirror, often leading to missed signals about upcoming market shifts.
HousingWire Intelligence provides a range of leading indicators, including inventory levels, pending sales, and mortgage application trends, allowing Mykel to make decisions based on current market financial performance instead of historical trends.
She explained that this data helps her distinguish between normal seasonal slowdowns and more significant downturns, enabling better strategic planning. Mykel views HousingWire Intelligence as a complement, not a competitor, to local MLS data, enhancing her market insight.
