The U.S. Secret Service and D.C. police responded to reports of suspicious items on October 23, 2026, leading to road closures in Washington, D.C., according to The Hill.

Around 2:40 p.m., a suspicious item was reported near 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, close to the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, prompting the Secret Service to close the road near the White House, The Hill reported.

Earlier that day, the Secret Service and D.C. police also investigated a suspicious package near the Ukrainian Embassy. As a precaution, the 3300 block of M Street Northwest and the Francis Scott Key Bridge were closed, according to The Hill.

Authorities have not released further details about the nature of the items or the outcomes of the investigations.

The Secret Service and local police continue to monitor the situations as part of their security protocols.
