Senate Majority PAC launches $1.2M ad campaign in Mississippi Senate race

Democrats intensify efforts in deep-red states ahead of midterm elections, targeting GOP incumbents.

Senate Majority PAC, aligned with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, announced a $1.2 million advertising campaign in Mississippi's Senate race, running through November 3, NBC News reported.

The campaign features a 30-second ad promoting prosecutor Scott Colom as a Democrat fighting corruption in both parties and criticizing incumbent GOP Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith as a "do-nothing," according to NBC News.

This move reflects Democrats' strategy to compete in traditionally Republican states, as Mississippi is the reddest state the super PAC has targeted so far; President Donald Trump won Mississippi by 23 points in 2024, and a Democrat has not won a Senate race there since 1982.

Senate Majority PAC is also investing in other deep-red states Trump won by double digits in 2024, including Kansas, Alaska, Iowa, Ohio, and Texas, while the GOP's Senate Leadership Fund is running ads in those states except Mississippi and is focusing on South Carolina and Nebraska races as well, NBC News reported.
