SFPD arrests two suspects in separate southeast San Francisco homicides
Two suspects, including a teen, were arrested for fatal shootings in Hunters Point and Potrero Hill this month.
San Francisco police arrested two suspects connected to two separate homicides in the city's southeast neighborhoods, Hunters Point and Potrero Hill, Mission Local reported. One suspect is a 44-year-old man, and the other is a juvenile male.
The first arrest was made on October 15 when Jorge Alberto Mendoza-Hernandez was taken into custody near Candlestick State Park, about three miles from where Jose Juan Ramirez-Sanchez was fatally shot on October 1 in Hunters Point. Mendoza-Hernandez was one of two suspects identified in that case, but so far the only one apprehended.
The second arrest occurred after a fatal shooting on October 16 at Potrero Hill Terrace and Annex, a public housing complex. The following day, police obtained a search warrant and arrested a juvenile male at the complex after finding evidence related to the homicide.
These arrests come amid an increase in gun violence in San Francisco's southeast District 10, which had seen a significant decline in recent years but experienced three homicides in October alone, according to Mission Local.
