A small propeller plane crashed onto a busy expressway in San Jose near Reid-Hillview Airport on Saturday afternoon, according to the San Jose Fire Department. The single-engine plane nosedived into traffic on Capitol Expressway near Excalibur Drive, one of the city’s busiest streets.

Three people aboard the aircraft were taken to the hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening. No injuries were reported among drivers or pedestrians at the scene. Authorities have not identified those involved in the crash.

Federal authorities are investigating the incident, but no cause has been released. The San Francisco Chronicle’s SFGATE noted that previous crashes have occurred in the same area, raising local concerns about airport safety.

Updates on the condition of those injured and the progress of the investigation are expected in the coming days.
