Stanford wins big in football and volleyball during Alumni weekend
Stanford football and volleyball teams secured wins, with running back Micah Ford scoring four touchdowns against Elon.
Stanford football ended its losing streak with a 34-7 victory over Elon University during Alumni weekend, according to Stanford Daily. The Cardinal's junior running back Micah Ford scored four touchdowns, tying the school's record for most touchdowns in a game.
The game remained scoreless in the first quarter, but Ford opened the scoring early in the second quarter with a 1-yard run. He added touchdowns on a 7-yard run, a 5-yard run after recovering his own fumble, and an 81-yard run untouched by the Phoenix defense.
Stanford's sixth-year quarterback Davis Warren also contributed with a 27-yard touchdown pass to senior running back Sedrick Irvin in the third quarter. Elon scored its only touchdown in the fourth quarter on an 18-yard rush by freshman running back Kamerin McDowell-Moore.
In volleyball, Stanford's No. 16 team beat NC State 3-1 at Maples Pavilion while honoring Breast Cancer Awareness Month with pink and white jerseys. Senior outside hitter Julia Blyashov recorded a career-high 21 kills and 12 digs, marking her sixth double-double of the season.
Junior middle blocker Lizzy Andrew also contributed significantly with 11 kills and six blocks, helping secure the Cardinal's victory after dropping the first set.
Stanford looks to build on this momentum as the football team prepares for a Friday night game against NC State, while the volleyball team continues its season with a strong record.
